5 Weeks to go
Last 2 weeks has flown by, with only 5 weeks to go for the Big O’s arrival. Last week the baby weighed 5lbs 4 oz. The ultrasound tech said to add 2 pounds and that is probably gonna be the baby’s weight. I have been feeling pretty good, although I noticed the last 2 days the 4pm hr is hard for me at work. I was planning to work ’til the end so I can take more time when baby is here, but we shall see if I can make it. Right now my knuckles are bothering me alot, not sure if my psoriatic arthritis is kicking in.
Nursery: Construction finally completed. Brett has primed the room since I cannot paint due to the fumes. He plans to paint the color this weekend. Next is the carpet cleaning and then we can bring in the furniture.
Alarm system: Funny how now that we have a little one on the way we want to protect the home. The main concern is that we would be in two different levels. I want to avoid anyone coming to take my baby and then seeing her 16 yrs later all traumatized. If we didn’t sleep with a white noise machine due to snoring husband then we would be fine, but with that racket we can’t hear anything outside our bedroom.
Prenatal Classes: We took Infant Care Safety and Breast Feeding, both classes worth the time. A registered nurse taught the infant class, she reviewed swaddling, bathing, diapering, rectal thermometers(eww don’t know how I will be able to do that) etc. We also met a pediatrician who spoke for an hr. We liked him so much we are going to check out the practice and probably pick his practice. His mother was the first female doctor hired at Hackensack Medical Center, not bad. The breast-feeding class was very informative as well.
Bra: I finally had to give up the underwire bra, because my ribs and belly were causing the wire to dig into my skin. Very painful! I met someone in one of the prenatal classes and she suggested this place called WOB lingerie. Wow they were like bra wizards, sort of. They don’t use measuring tape because all bras are different. The band of the bra is still bothering me a little, so hoping I can find a solution. Either way it is better than the wire stabbing me.
C-Section: I did my research and I am definitely getting one. Friday I see the doctor so we can schedule it then and then I can set up my mat leave calendar.

Things are coming together!
Contractor: Even though i feel like i could have finished this nursery in 3 days, apparently for a non pregnant contractor it takes more than 5 half days. Is it me? I mean just 2 weeks ago i suprised the hubby by tiling the entire kitchen backsplash. In 2 days, 4 hrs a night after work! Did i mention im preggers? But i guess some contractors dont feel the urgency to finish a job sooner than later. I would rather finish quicker so i can get paid. In any case, today was the end of day 5-electrical is done, sheetrock is up, closet is set. All that’s left is doors, closet shelving, some cabinitry that needs to be completed, and of course i need to paint. Part of the painting is in the stairway so i dont know how thats getting done. I know it isnt going to be me on the stairs!
Doctor: A huge stress bubble has been lifted from my shoulders. I guess since we are getting closer i have started dwelling, freaking, worrying about the birth. I dont want an episiotomy, nor do i want to cause any damage to my vajayjay. In talking with the RN, she asked if i was a c section and i said i hope i am. The fairy godmother told me that i have the choice of a csection if i want. Really? Wow! Apparently years ago it was frowned upon and insurance wouldnt cover elective sections; but now they do and according to the doctor csections are almost at the same level as vaginal births safety wise. The doctor told me it’s his job to advise on vaginal birth, but if i want the section he is not against it. He told me to think about it and let him know if i still want it when i see him in 2 weeks.

Check Check Check
It seems like things are coming along slowly, but still coming along.
Hospital Tour: Sunday we went on the hospital tour, very enlightening. Being in the labor delivery room, and being shown “all the bed has to offer” like i was buying a recliner. Seeing those leg stirrups and handles freaked me out a little, because i really don’t want to feel any pain at all. But then when you think about being awake during a C-section makes me rethink my C-section or bust thoughts. Anyway, the post partem room was a little small, but all the rooms are private in the women’s hospital so can’t complain. The sofa, well let’s say bench doesn’t look too comfortable so I am thinking the hubby will be going home at night for rest after baby arrives. The tour guide gave us tips on what to pack and that only two people, the same two people are allowed in the labor delivery room with you. Then once you move to the post partem room you can receive visitors. But they warned that you should set hrs yourself since there are no restrictions. she said she knows of people who go visit early in the morning, late at night or just wont leave to give you some quiet rest time for breast feeding. We were told to enjoy our breakfast and morning alone while the baby is in the nursery-the only quiet time we will have in awhile.
Contractor: I know it is hard to believe but in a week the work will begin. Brett had contacted one of the original guys that came in for interview and hired him.He is very receptive which the hubby loves. So exciting by end of January the room will be complete!
Asthma: I have had mild asthma during the winter for the last few years, and this year is no different. It kicked in a few weeks ago. I normally get a cough this time accompanied with phlegm. Pulmonoligist said it is a combo of asthma and from the cold i had a few weeks ago. since i didn’t take any meds i guess some bacteria lingered. So i am now equipped with my pump and a Z pack. Ob said it was ok for me to take the drugs. the risk of me taking the drugs is less than if i don’t take the drugs.
Next Up: Tomorrow is the next Ob appointment. We get to see the baby again. Brett is away on business so my mom is coming, the new grandma to be is more than excited.

3rd Trimester is here…30 weeks
The last 2 weeks has flown by, hopefully the baby will be here soon since this last few weeks just feels like we are just waiting around. The more time that lags the more I think about the actual deliver; where is a stork when you need one!
Guclose test: So my 3 hr glucose test was fine, no gestational diabetes here. Now, my hubby can stop saying i am diabetic and wrap his arms around the idea that pregnant women get tired.
Gifts: We just bought the Mamaroo. Wish they made one for adults. It’s made by 4moms, definitely check out their website. It’s a bit pricey I think for what I hear will only be 9 months of use but i think it is worth it. For my birthday someone got me what to expect in the first year. Book has a lot of good information so far. definitely worth the read.
Strollers: Last week we checked out strollers. It was like you needed an engineering degree to work those things. We would shut them and then couldn’t open them because we didn’t realize that these things have lock features on them. Where are the simple one’s when we were kids! We were looking at the travel systems and they were heavy a mom passer by had mentioned, and boy was she right. It made us switch from the graco travel system to the graco Urban lite. This stroller is super light at 20 pounds, easy to pick up and put in trunk when your flying solo.
Tomorrow we do a hospital tour. Friday, i go for my next checkup and ultrasound. Hubby is away on business so I asked my mom if she wanted to go. The first time grandma was super emotional and happy. In a month we are going to the infant safety class and breast feeding. Brett still is questioning why he needs to attend the breast feeding class; but I was told the class is good for men so they understand the process.
Still waiting on the contractor to confirm when he is done with his current job. I told hubby to call him Monday just in case he tells us February. If that happens I am ready to get some guys at home depot to the job.

Tired but hanging on!
This week was a little tiring for me as i am inching to the 3rd trimester this weekend. I think im also getting sick. Now i have a scratchy throat and rainbow mucous. Not sure if its a sinus infection. Hopefully i can get some rest this 3 day weekend.
Monday, my fetal echo went well. All heart diseases were ruled except of course the super rare ones which the ultrasound cant rule out.
Glucose test was a little high, so next week i have to go in for the 3 hr test. Joy! I also had low iron levels so doc phoned in script to cvs. The cvs lady hands me the script and says $119. I responded with a suprised loud what?! For iron?? Pharmacist said i could take otc iron so i saved $100. Very crazy that they charge that for 30 pills.
Today i tried to get my 2 cavities filled sans epinephrine, but no luck. After 2 injections i still wasn’t numb enough. Dentist was concerned once drilled i may need a root canal and that would require epinephrine. He said come back after birth so i can get the regular novacane. Luckily the tooth sensitivity is very faint, hopefully that holds true for 3 months.

Out with the old in with the new
Today we went to see our new ob. This is the same doctor that we saw a month ago on a referral for an ultrasound. Apparently, the doctor had written is recommendation to my old doctor that I should get an amnio at 20 weeks at the time and get a fetal echo. My old doctor told me none of this information, so of course I was surprised when. He new doc asked me if I turned it down. It just confirmed our decision to switch doctors was a good one. We also googled him and found out that he is a correspondent on fox news and all these other great things about him. More good reasons. We like his frankness too.
They did the gestational diabetes test in the office. The drink just tasted like orange soda, no big deal; but the bloodwork was another story. The nurse “had no time to look for my veins so she stabbed the back of my hand and it hurt! I just looked away and down as tears, yes tears ran down my face as the 6 viles were filled. I never had crying issues on bloodwork but this hurt, still does 6 hrs later.
Next week I have to get a fetal echo on Monday and Friday get my cavities filled. I feel like an irresponsible employee with all these appts. It is what it is I guess.
Daycare: today, we visited our first daycare center. It looks like a great place, lots of learning curriculum BUT $365/week! Oh wait I get a whopping 10% discount so $335. It left me thinking well worrying about $1200 a month which is crazy. I know there are many more to see but what if the cheap ones are bad. Lots of research to be had.

How hard is it to find a contractor?
it has been almost 2 months that we have been looking for a contractor to turn a loft area into the baby’s room. All we need is someone to put up a wall, door and a closet. Is that too much to ask for? Well apparently so!
Contractor Take 1: Brett interviewed a ton of contractors and selected one he liked. The guy said he would let us know when he was available. 2 weeks later Brett leaves numerous messages finally a week later we are told he has a bigger job and cannot commit to our job.
Contractor Take 2: Brett calls the next guy on the list that he liked, again only to be told that he would do the job but would need to get back to us because he is finishing up another job. 1 week later, Brett calls to find out a date. Contractor says that he can’t quite pinpoint when he will be done with the job so he can’t tell us when he can start our job. He said he would call us the next day(Tuesday) to let us know when. We have not received any other calls.
Contractor Take 3: Brett’s pool buddy who is also a contractor is coming by tomorrow to check the space out and offer a quote and timeline. Wish us luck! if worse comes to worse our baby will have our cats in the crib baby sitting it. lol..

Fullest head in town!
I have to say the best part of being pregnant is my hair. My hair was falling out prior to pregnancy, alopecia I think. And this pregnancy thing is great my hair barely comes out when Ibrush it. It is nice and thick, it is wonderful! Maybe Mrs. Duggar has a point of getting pregnant so many times to sport all her hair another year. I know it won’t last long, but I am enjoying it while it does.

New Doc in town!
So excited that the OB that I saw on a referral for an ultrasound, has accepted me as a new patient. We really liked this guy alot when we saw him, and i have been waiting for a month for him to review my file since he had a full load. The best part is that since I am a new patient he needs to do another ultrasound. I get to see my baby again! I tell you i am getting spoiled with these ultrasounds. Normally, I would not have been able to see the baby again until my 30′s, but next week at 26 weeks I will see her again.

Let the drilling begin
Spoke to the OB’s office and they told me that a cavity needs to be tended to before it turns into an abscess. The nurse was telling me that when your pregnant your teeth are deteriorating and so you can’t wait around for it to get worse. Get it taken care of ASAP! So the two emerging cavities will be drilled on 12/20 with novacaine without epinephrine.
